Caring for your piano
-
It depends…Are you an avid pianist who plays for several hours a day or week? Has it been several years since it’s been tuned? Has it gone through a recent move? We can discuss what works for you. I would suggest 2 times per year to start if the above situations apply. Otherwise, 1 time per year will probably work for you.

It’s DUSTY, SUNNY and DRY in Central Oregon!
DO: Keep the lid closed.
DO: Humidify the room or piano directly.
DO: Dust with a microfiber cloth to keep dust from migrating into the piano.
DO: Keep the sun off of the strings of grand pianos (keep lid closed) .
DEEP CLEAN: Schedule a deep cleaning of your piano at least once every 2 years.
-
Do not place piano close to a heating vent or fireplace.
If possible, place on an inside wall which is the most stable environment for a piano.
-
Ideal humidity for a piano is between 35-55%. If that is not possible, consider adding a room humidifier, or contacting me for an in-piano solution. I recommend the Piano Life Saver product with an undercover cloth (if you have a grand piano).
I am a Piano Life Saver Distributer & Installer (formerly known as Dampp-Chaser). Contact me for a consultation or installation.
Purchasing a Piano: What’s Involved
-
Always check with your local piano technician before choosing a piano.
They can make sure you are buying the best instrument that will perfectly suit your needs.
There several brands that I can recommend to you. Let’s talk!
-
There’s a reason that piano is free. The owner does not want to move it out of their house. And neither should you!
It will cost you SO much more in the long run.

I work with many piano shops in Oregon and can recommend several to you. Two of the best are Classic Pianos and Portland Piano Company.
Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are also fine places to find a used piano. But you MUST have a certified piano technician check out the piano before purchasing.
